Concert for YoutH
On the 15th March 2026 The Thomas Hardye School Orchestra joined forces with the semi-professional Dorset Chamber Orchestra for their Concert For Youth.
The concert included the following pieces:
Chabrier - Joyeuse Marche
Mendelssohn - Konzertstuck No.2 for 2 clarinets and orchestra (featuring Mia Wright and Freya Murray as the two clarinet soloists.
Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition (featuring Jo Ansell as principal trumpet).
The actor Martin Clunes (OBE) delivered a specially written narration for the Mussorgsky and spoke afterwards at how impressed he was by the students.
Conductor of the Dorset Chamber Orchestra Walter Brewster said "Congratulations to all your young musicians for Saturday. I received so many comments of appreciation immediately afterwards and doubtless more will follow. Thanks to Hanna and Ben Trevorrow for collaborating and making it happen. I was very pleased with Freya and Mia in their duo performance and hope it will be something they remember well into the future. Martin Clunes was very impressed – listening off-stage he thought they must be soloists we had engaged from elsewhere."
