The Thomas Hardye School is a 13-18 mixed comprehensive school with 2300 on roll including 800 in the Sixth Form. It is a part of the Wessex Multi Academy Trust. The Headteacher is seeking to appoint a new Personal Assistant. The successful applicant will also line-manage other admin staff and be the senior member of the front office/reception team. Duties and responsibilities will be varied, and will include administrating the recruitment of new staff, general office duties and organising the headteacher’s diary and correspondence. You will hold an important staff management position and be responsible for ensuring that school administration is handled efficiently, and that data and files are properly maintained.

This position includes the role of Clerk to the Thomas Hardye Foundation – an independent charitable trust, established to support The Thomas Hardye School. You will be responsible for organising payments, administrative support to the Trustees, and convening, minuting and administering evening meetings, of which there are at least two per year.

We require someone:

  • Who is a team player, willing to help with a wide range of duties and activities that fall under the job description.
  • Who is a professional communicator, confident in different styles of written and verbal communication with colleagues, students and external professionals.
  • With experience in effective staff management.
  • With knowledge and experience using a range of ICT software including Microsoft Office, and a positive approach to advances in technology.

Experience applying such skills in a school environment would be an advantage.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative Teaching Assistant to support students in school.  You will be skilled at engaging and motivating students who find learning and communicating a challenge, in the classroom as well as during intervention groups.

We require someone:

  • Enthusiastic and committed to the learning needs of all young people.
  • Good at building relationships with young people and other adults.
  • Qualified at least to level 2 (grade C/4 or above at GCSE) in English and Maths.
  • Able to communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality.

Job Description

Caretaker

Contracted Hours:

 Full-time. This is a 37 hour per week contract, and includes school holidays in addition to term-time.

We are seeking to appoint a caretaker to join our school Site Team. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Site Manager. Duties and responsibilities will be varied, and will include overall site security, safety and tidiness, assisting with repairs and maintenance, distribution of deliveries, and maintaining supplies, consumables and cleanliness in toilets. You will usually work under supervision and will have defined processes and procedures to follow.

The job involves a shift pattern, working mornings week 1, with an early start, and afternoons week 2, with a late finish.

We require someone:

  • Who is a team player, willing to help with a wide range of duties and activities that fall under the job description.
  • With a basic level of IT skills, as maintaining electronic records is a key part of the job.
  • Physically fit, as the job involves lifting and carrying, and you will be working on your feet for the majority of the day.

Handyperson skills such as experience in using a range of tools, and simple painting and decorating would be an advantage, as would experience in a similar role.
